PCIT

What is PCIT ?

An evidenced based behavioral intervention for young children between the ages of 2.5 and 6.5 years old who have behavioral challenges at home, school, in public, and/or with others. Length of treatment time on average is between 14 to 25 sessions, however, it is length is based on the family’s engagement.

Why PCIT?

  • Unlike traditional therapy, the therapist directly trains and coaches caregivers/parents with skills and strategies to minimize problem behaviors through a “bug-in-the-ear” device.
  • Empowers caregivers/parents to change their own children’s behaviors.
  • Increase positive attachment between caregivers/parents and their children.

Appropriate Clients for PCIT:

  • Children between the ages of 2.5 and 6.5.
  • Children who have experienced traumatic events.
  • Children with problem behaviors.
  • Parent-child relational problems.
